This thematic area focuses on sustainable natural resource management and environmental conservation including; sustainable agriculture, land use, water resources management, climate change, and environmental education. Through these programs, GHI aims to promote sustainable practices that can help conserve Uganda’s natural resources for future generations. Through collaboration with communities, the government, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, we undertake various activities such as;
- Capacity building,
- Awareness creation,
- Advocacy
- Research.
Uganda, despite its abundant and quality natural resources, has a high proportion of food-insecure people living below the poverty line and contributing significantly to environmental degradation. There are, however, considerable opportunities and possibilities for economic growth and attainment of national development goals and global sustainable development goals, particularly those relating to Good health and wellbeing, poverty, hunger and environmental sustainability.
